Finally! Blog No. 35! … (Now What?)

mestepanich Mary Ellen Stepanich, PhD 4 0

With a little help from a couple of writer friends, and the crazy world that invades my senses just about every day, I managed to generate a blog for thirty-five straight days. Hurrah!

Now, the question is…”Where do I go from here?” I’ve had a couple of ideas and I’d like the help of my blog readers in deciding my future course of action…(that is, regarding blogs. Knowing some of my readers, I’m afraid of what they might suggest I should do with myself.)

I took a brief on-line course in blogging last year, and the instructor suggested that we focus our blogs, and write about what we know and do best. Since I don’t know much anymore––those brain cells died in 2006––these are some topics I think I’d like to write about:

1. The book(s) I’m writing currently. I might even post an excerpt now and then to “tease” readers and seek their input about the writing.

2. My comedy barbershop quartet, Lilac Crazy. It seems that every time we get together, either to rehearse or perform, something amusing happens. There’s a reason we sing comedy.Lilac Crazy01

3. News items that strike me as being funny or absurd. I don’t read newspapers every day, but I do read the news on my weekly radio broadcast for Sun Sounds of Arizona, radio for the blind and print-disabled. The stories run the gamut from the horrible to the mundane, with the ridiculous thrown in from time to time.

4. Self-publishing experiences. I am not an expert on the best practices for self-publishing, but I would like to share what I’ve done that has been successful…and unsuccessful.

5. My philosophical musings. Does anyone care what a 75-year-old woman has to say about the world around her? I may not be an expert about many things, but I am an expert about my own experiences.

So, please let me know your thoughts about these choices, one or more of the above, or suggest another topic entirely, by leaving a comment below.

By the way, here’s something I heard on television the other night, spoken by a character who looked remarkably like former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright: “There is plenty of room in the world for mediocre men, but there is no room for mediocre women.”

And that’s my goal––to be a little better than mediocre.
